"In addition to workers who leave the government to retire or simply to quit, about another 50,000 to 60,000 are terminated every year for disciplinary or performance reasons, or because their appointments or funds expired"
"Around 3,400 — die each year while employed by the government. All these departures are typically replaced by about 240,000 hires each year."
I wonder if it's a reasonable conclusion that by offering 8 months severance they end up costing the government more because people who otherwise would have been terminated/removed/quit are now owed money they otherwise wouldn't have been eligible for.
And would have been much higher this year due to mandatory back to office. A 1 year strict hiring freeze would have been the smart move. Less drama/better results. 🤔
Workers are quit their positions and are usually rehired right but doge wants to eliminate them entirely right is my understanding right ?
Either your figures are way off...or these people are dumber than I thought. If 7% leave voluntarily, why wouldn't they grasp at the opportunity to get an 8-month severance on the way out?

Well, this is crazy. USAID's office of inspector general is still apparently operational and just put out a report on the impact of staff reductions and foreign aid freeze. it concludes $489 MILLION of food assistance was put at risk
👀 DOJ acknowledges making two significant errors during a court hearing last week on efforts to dismantle USAID 1) It said only 500 employees had been placed on leave. Actual number was 2,140. 2) Said only future contracts were stopped. Existing contracts were also stopped.

Refusing to comply with a federal court order that says they defied their previous order Seems like this is gonna end up with Roberts, Barrett, Kavanaugh & Gorsuch deciding between their own personal political ideologies & the future relevance of federal courts as an institution

JUST IN: USAID employees say the administration is not complying with Judge NICHOLS' order to prevent the immediate dismantling of the agency. They say employees he ordered reinstated have not been and other actions cut against his order. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco
