Friends in LA: Download the Watch Duty app to track the fire in real time. It’s the official wild fire app used by the firemen in California with very granular real time updates, video feeds and evacuation maps. Stay safe. You have no concept of how fast fire can spread til you’ve been through one. I survived a house fire 24 years ago and will never forget the speed. Get as far away as you can with your loved ones. Forget your possessions, they don’t matter.

Dark red = active fire / burned area Light red = mandatory evacuation Yellow = evacuation warning (be ready for an order as at moment The other shades are just the underlying map colors with dark red / light red or yellow laid on top of them
As someone who’s often out boondocking in the woods quite often I gotta say watchduty has saved me a few times. But I wish there were more sensor data in remote parts of the woods because the air quality reporting lags or is inaccurate all the way out there away from the city

Fire moves faster than you think—having real-time info could save lives. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Stay safe, focus on your loved ones, and keep your escape route clear.
It doesn't seem in the case of Palisades to be giving any more information than official site but still appreciate the recommendation.
Can confirm. If possible gather important docs like SS cards, birth certificates, etc. Of course those are nice to have, not need to have.
Also good to note: If you’re not in LA or near a wildfire, don’t download this app. Too many unnecessary downloads could crash it, and people in danger need it to work.
