The full text of the 1961 Schlesinger memo, long sought by JFK researchers, show how a trusted Kennedy aide urged a reorganization of the CIA in the months after the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion.
More than a full page had been blacked out for more than 60 years. Why?
We now
“CIA today has nearly as many people under official cover overseas as State,” Schlesinger wrote, adding that in certain countries, CIA’s presence “outnumbers regular State Department personnel.”
The previously-classified portion of the memo cites the specific number of CIA
It’s become well-known among JFK researchers over the years that the CIA was surveilling Lee Harvey Oswald in the years prior to the assassination, a fact the agency kept from the Warren Commission.
The docs dropped last night add more specifics about the CIA’s operations, namely in Mexico City, where Oswald met with Cuban and Soviet officials in Sept 1963.
These docs reveal how the CIA tapped phones of the Cuban and Soviet diplomatic facilities, information that had been classified until now.
The previously-redacted pages spell out specific instructions for CIA operatives on how to wiretap, including the use of certain chemicals
Personally, one of my favorite finds is in an August 1966 internal CIA memo.
It recommends a “certificate of distinction” for a CIA official who led the spy agency’s technical division. Previous releases of the same document contained redactions striking sentences that
Here’s an illustration of that, showing what had been previously released — and what we learned for the first time only last night.
The McCord doc on the left was last released with redactions in 2023.
The one on the right was made public last night.
It may not have been kept from the Warren Commission as much as it was planted ex-post facto by J Edgar Hoover.
Appreciate your work, but the release of these files provide little new information of probative value.
Trump released these files to obscure his treasonous behavior and utter and complete cognitive decline.
Trump is also working overtime to divert attention from Epstein files.
On the day of the assassination, *no one* in the government knew where Oswald lived during the week. I.e., a rooming house. The idea that the CIA was "surveilling" Oswald is false. They were getting reports about Oswald from FBI. But they were NOT surveilling Oswald at that time.
John and Mayme Surrency were murdered the day before Thanksgiving 1936. Garland Headley was tasked with prosecuting the three men involved. What he uncovered sent him and his family fleeing the United States. What did John and Mayme know that led to their murder?
Weird how Russians were involved much more, even way back then. Not surprising given Oswald had defected to the USSR for a couple of years.
The WC was told about this surveillance. Two of the staffers, William Coleman and David Slawson, went to Mexico City and were told about the wiretaps by the CIA station chief Win Scott. Slawson is still alive.
Any reference to Hoover's file on Daddy Bush? The CIA claimed he never worked for them but we know that's a lie.
About 20 years ago, a radio announcer here in Australia did a spot on travel stories, and a caller said she met Oswald on a bus going to Mexico.
Any indication Oswald was aware the meetings were tapped? Like was he employed by the CIA or maybe just a useful idiot providing cover for another assassin?
Senator Whitehouse asks Pam Bondi about the weaponization of the DOJ during her confirmation hearing.
Whitehouse: "it would not be appropriate for a prosecutor to start with a name and look for a crime. It's a prosecutor's job to start with a crime and look for a name,

The Warren Commission was told *BY THE CIA* about Oswald's visits to the Cuban and Soviet embassies when he went to Mexico City. How did the CIA keep their surveillance from the WC if they told them about those visits? This makes no sense, sir.
Oswald didn’t exactly meet “Oswald met with Cuban and Soviet officials in Sept 1963.” He went to the Cuban embassy where he tried unsuccessfully to get a Cuban visa. He then went to the Soviet embassy to see about a visa for his wife.
Again, two of the WC staffers, the late William Coleman and David Slawson, were told about the CIA wiretaps of the phones. You say the CIA withheld this from them. But that is simply false.
