Sam Liccardo plans to introduce an amendment to the Defense Production Act which would prohibit federal agencies from retaliating against AI and emerging tech vendors, as reported by Axios. Democrats are also discussing legislation to address concerns that the Pentagon is pursuing AI systems that could enable domestic surveillance or autonomous weapons without human oversight.

For anyone saying “what about when Democrats are in power?”…this is still good. We don’t want anyone using the DPA to punish companies.
🐦🌬️ Here we go. 👏 I'm writing to my state gov. and appointed reps within the week. Maybe insights from an analyst viewpoint can be helpful. Maybe it'll be ignored, maybe not, but I'm going to try.
This seems like another piece of legislation that will backfire once the other party comes into power
