Notre Dame's famous Grand Organ with its 8,000 pipes, sounds out once again throughout the cathedral.

i've never listened to organ music in my life but this was amazing, do you have any recs for a layperson such as myself to get into this kind of music with this kind of playing?

It was a beautiful number... I can't see how anyone could complain about it. Makes me wonder if any of them actually listen to anything but famous Organ music
I’m here for the organist discussion! It was certainly not what I expected and at times I got the feeling you get at jazz gig improvisation parts when you start to worry if the soloist would find his way back and finish on the right note. That must have awoken the gargoyles
It definitely can be disorienting and that's part of what I like about it. Few things to me better capture the overwhelming strangeness and power of God better than 20thC French organ music (and Messiaen's music in general, e.g. his St. Francis opera)
“Woke music” these people are dumber than dogs

Unfortunately organists did not make the right selection to play. It was a show off and ear scratching, woke music. The renovated organ was wasted on them! It would have been great if they played pieces from Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, or Schuberts' Ave Maria at least!

The idea that the organ was renovated and then this random posse of organists came in and ruined it is also funny. They're the titulaires, they're supposed to be there!
I must be a turbonormie because I think the 'crescendo' sounds lazy and random. Didn't feel dramatic at all, just felt like he was mashing keys, no angels in the architecture.
Dude, you’re aware this app has been under new management for quite some time now, yes? And that a blue check is basically just an adblocker, and normalizes your visibility? It’s like mocking a Netflix subscription. Real boomer energy to it as well.
"It sounds awful"-guy listening to a massive organ with crazy acoustics through his phone speaker
Most people hardly listen to any organ music and don't know that a lot of it has stuff that sounds like that
Not at all, but if I was totally unfamiliar with the French organ tradition I probably wouldn't opine on whether or not the music played at Notre Dame by a titular organist of Notre Dame was inappropriate, weird, etc. or not
i can't believe trying to act like you know about playing an organ more than the guy who got hired to ply AT THE REOPENING OF NOTRE DAME
Crazy how so-called Trad Caths are disgusted by this: in most big churches you at least hear that during sacred music hours if not at Mass, they need stop LARPing and actually attend church
