This is dystopian. The govt does not even allege this woman played a major role in the pro-Palestine protests, like Khalil did. And yet they're trying to expel her to South Korea, where she hasn't lived since she was 7. I don't see how anyone can defend this. It's un-American.

NEW: The Trump administration is moving to deport a 21-year-old Columbia senior originally from South Korea who has lived here on a green card since she was 7 years old — because of her minor involvement in pro-Palestinian protests. They sent FEDERAL AGENTS to hunt her down.

Yunseo Chung, a legal permanent resident who has lived in the U.S. since she was 7, participated in pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Immigration agents visited residences looking for her.

The Trump admin says it must deport this woman bc she allegedly hindered its foreign policy goal of stopping antisemitism. I don't see evidence yet that she was antisemitic, but even if she had been, that's protected speech. You don't further liberal values by being illiberal.
I continue to be extremely dismayed by the number of people who say they passionately support the First Amendment, only to throw that out the window the moment they find expression they dislike. That is not how this is supposed to work.
The government has offered no evidence that this woman did anything to support terrorism, which is why a federal judge just ruled she can't be jailed during her proceedings, unlike Khalil. Stop taking the government's word at face value. It's not a good look.
There's a now-familiar supervillain monologue certain people on here like to give about how efforts to suppress their speech only radicalized them further and made their ideas sexy and dangerous. Would be nice if they made the connection to far more drastic state crackdowns.
Imagine coming from South Korea and getting involved in the weird Jews vs Arabs war that the US has focused on for 75 years in a country.
If you want the protections of citizenship, become a citizen and take the oath: "I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore
Of course, a person has a right to play a major role in any protest, pro-Palestinian or otherwise. They can single-handedly organize it and fully fund it. Did the guy commit violence? Who knows. But I get your point.
If someone is not a U.S. citizen and wants to be in the U.S., they can be pro-America or be deported. It's binary. Congress needs to pass a bill to make it a clear zero tolerance policy. In fact, they should have to put the American Flag in their home and pledge allegiance daily.
Because she’s not a citizen. She attended protests in support of terrorists who have been holding American citizens captive for 18 months. She can return to her dirt of origin & support the terrorists from there.
Constitutionally, it doesn't matter whether her involvement was major or minor. She's still has a right to due process, and the First Amendment doesn't allow the government to revoke her green card just because they don't like her opinions.
Billy is the epitome of a surface level thinker praying for clicks and engagement. He spouts off about a topic but only gives you about 40% of the story, a true grifter.
My worldview is so completely alien to this. The default mode here should be deportation. We are not gonna become a fucking protest tourism destination for all the third world shitholes to send their people on "legal visas" to agitate against our policies. fuck you. fuck that.
Don’t recall. Did you fiercely condemn the unjust prosecution of the folks having their homes raided for praying at abortion clinics? I don’t know specifics about this girl. If she’s trying to foment outrage among the populace — as a non-citizen that’s not a good idea.
Nah. I want every foreigner in the US to know we can and will jerk their papers if they decide to agitate for our downfall. She can go do that shit in Korea. I dgaf how long she’s lived in the US.
Oh no! I'll give the same amount of shits about her as you gave about the over 1,000 innocent Americans that got rounded up by Biden's gestapo and held in solitary confinement with no trial FOR YEARS Deport her, I don't give a single fuck
lol, if we were told she would be a terrorist sympathizer when she came in, she would never have been allowed in. Now she gone…
It's pretty un-American for her to participate in or lead "Death to the Jews" rallies. She shouldn't be deported --- she should be terrorized in the same way she has terrorized the Jews at Columbia until she self deports, either from the country or the world.
Yeaaaaa I saw FBI raids on people for being near the capitol building on Jan 6. My fucks given have dropped to zero. Y’all go ahead and keep crying over immigrants if you want but no one is listening.
I'll defend it. I like legal immigration, and we can't have the kind of immigration regime that you and I both want if the public is stripped of the ability to get rid of troublemakers. The result will be a permanently closed border. Think about the second order effects here.
Her rendition of what happened on March 5th seems to be a complete fabrication based on all available video evidence. The police weren't stopping protestors outside from leaving, they were positioned between the protestors and the building.

"Dystopian"? Our immigration system was grossly abused for decades--against the will of large majorities of voters who oppose unvetted mass migration. *That* was dystopian. Now, an administration is finally putting the immigration system back in order.
What an era. America is deporting a US Citizen for a protest. Sad, shameful and so embarrassing. America exists because of protest.
The Bill of Rights is not limited to citizens. It applies to all PERSONS in the United States, be they Korean, pro-Palestinian, vegan or even Republican.
Kind of like some of the people that peacefully walked into the capital building on J6 took a few pictures and walked out. They were hunted down, raided and put in jail.
The argument goes if you're a guest in the country then you can't agitate against the country. I understand the point of view but I agree it's overzealous.
Didn’t she get arrested for taking over the library? Sorry, that’s deportable. Green card or not.
There is a high likelihood she knew about October 7th before it happened. Deport them all.

Remember how partisans on the Left dismissed the pro-Hamas protests on campuses as simply "anti-war"? Circumstantial evidence indicates the leaders of these pro-Hamas groups at Columbia knew in advance of Hamas' Oct. 7 terror attack. They're not even pro-Hamas. They're Hamas.

The only unamerican thing is we let that bug eyed communist into our country in the first place. Thousands of American men died to save her nation from socialism and she ended up a pinko anyway. She should be deported to the North not the South.
She trapped ppl in the admin building. Targeted board of admins by putting up "Complicit to Genocide" all over the admin building. She was arrested for obstructing police to enter. Disciplinary action & suspended by Columbia on that same day & was told to NOT RE-ENTER CAMPUS.

She’s indicated she has a predilection for property damage and holding people she feels beneath her hostage. She FAed, now she’s getting the FO. Should’ve been smarter.
The “this” you refer to is false. She was arrested for her minimal involvement of illegally taking over a school facility.

She was literally arrested just two weeks ago for violently taking over a library. They lie with absolutely zero shame. It’s honestly insane how brazen they are.

It's what terrorists do. They terrorize anyone they see as opposition. It's a message, a loud message, for others. And it works.
You know the zealot pro Israel crowd has gone completely insane because this will put Israel's US support in jeopardy when these next generations come into power. Literally can't see past 6 feet in front of their face.
The lack of principle is the principle. The more capriciousness they get away with now, the more leeway they have later when they try to send someone like you to an El Salvadorean gulag.
"I don't see how anyone can defend this." MAGA has spent a decade literally dehumanizing non-white people, especially immigrants. So that's how.
These idiots don’t get it … everyone is innocent until proven guilty hence why this is a big deal . I weep for this dumbed down country .
Fascism constantly needs to be fed new enemies until everyone other than those in power is one.
I never want to hear America called a democracy again, nor China a communist. If anything, America is the real communist state! We sure act like one. At this point, they could deport everyone in support of Israel’s genocide. Silence means ignorance, cowardice, or complicity.
protesters took over Barnard’s library, chanting “intifada revolution” & “from the river to the sea,” seen as violent anti-Jewish threats. They resisted lawful use of the space & ignored chances to leave. Yunseo Chung, a non-citizen, deserves deportation for breaking the law.
actually its very much American for this country to deport Asian people back to their countries. Yall just think Trump is unique to this when he is not.
What’s wrong with South Korea? Why does she have a Chinese last name? why did she not already become a citizen? I need the answers to these questions before I can sympathize. However, if she marries an incel and produces 3 babies she can stay
Make an example out of them. We need people to bring their expertise and positive energy to this country. If you want to loaf around, toss monkey wrenches and lob molotovs, become a citizen. Otherwise we will toss you into the pit, using "due process", of course
Free speech does NOT include inciting a riot, which is illegal. Let's please remember that. The details about who gets indicted and who gets deported and the process involved aren't really that interesting.
Send her home. She’s a guest here. Protesting on behalf of a horrific terrorist organization that has attacked our ally is cause enough to know where her loyalties lie. SEND HER HOME, AND ALL LIKE HER HERE ON GREEN CARDS. THEY FAILED.
Non citizens shouldn't involve themselves in our politics. Keep your mouth shut while you are a guest here.
"because of her minor involvement in pro-Palestinian protests" She was arrested for illegally occupying a building, and preventing its use by other students and staff. Civil disobedience means breaking the law. If you can't handle the consequences, don't break the law.
It's almost as if it's foolish to protest against the government of a nation you reside in, and hope to become a naturalized citizen of, BEFORE you actually become a citizen.
