It's a real testament to the limits of money in politics that Elon Musk spent ~$300m minimum to elect a president and got a giant pile of tariffs, repeal of clean energy and EV credits, a crackdown on student visas, etc, etc etc along with a budget bill he openly opposes

He got what he really wanted thoโ€”massive government contracts for SpaceX, Tesla, and Starlink. He's going to get a nice ROI on his investment.
I always thought his contribution to the Trump win was overstated as being the product some great strategic mind It was basically 50/50 chances and he picked a side
Yes, exactly. There is so much worry about the influence of money in politics that people overlook the surprising limits of effectiveness of money in politics.
He destroyed like 7 different departments investigating him or his companies.
Many of his failures can be attributed to his efforts to link himself to his money because he believes he has a charisma that he simply doesn't. In addition, he was still able to secure government contracts and shut down investigations, which will make him plenty in the long term
but he also got to direct unfathomable amounts of government contract money to businesses he personally owns.
Along with $billions in defense contracts, pressure on smaller countries to choose his Starlink, removal of regulations, fines and litigation.
Oh come on, Musk was able to decimate all of the departments of the federal government who were investigating his companies.
Also, he has gotten BILLIONS in NEW STARLINK GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS and ALL HIS INVESTIGATIONS AGAINST HIM AND HIS COMPANIES SUDDENDLY DISSAPEARED!!! Will take DECADES to find all the corruption of this Administration!!!!!!
And he got used by Trump to be the bad guy on DOGE, while Trump/Republicans refuse to codify any of his DOGE work
Also evidence that stupidity is a negative. Backing Trump was idiocy. Musk has, however, benefitted from the gutting of regulatory regimes that had him in its sites.
He has always opposed EV/energy credits, tariffs have minimal impact on teslas car operations. But congress has derailed doge effort which is why he has pulled back.
