In 2022, San Francisco recalled DA Chesa Boudin, son of two convicted Weatherman terrorists, and raised by two other terrorists, Bill Ayers & Bernardine Dohrn. SF bounced him and crime started plummeting as the DA's office actually did it's job. Now Austin needs to bounce Garza.
San Fran had low murder n violent rate w Chesa but car theft etc was off the charts
Nuisance crimes can motivate voters more as they see them every day
Garza can be beat but Republicans or Dem challenger needs money n smart campaign
In SF people don’t even report crime because they tell themselves the criminal might accidentally get mistreated by the police

When comparing Cali cities you have to be careful because they will not criminalize many things so it skews stats
I imagine there is something in here about how it's reported and the fact that you can just commit crime in San Fran and it's not reported.
I don’t know how much of that is San Franciscans have stopped reporting crime because nobody will do anything about it.
Surely there’s some aspect of under reporting. As well as the entire Bay Area being up for contention and not just SF city proper

Well as someone who moved from the Bay Area, it’s important to recognize that people *don’t even report crimes* in California, so the data is really skewed. San Francisco feels much less safe to me than Austin does. That’s saying something.
If you move somewhere and keep voting the way that broke the place you left...
