On a 30 mph street near work there are digital signs that show your speed. People fly past it at freeway speeds but I doubt that they would do that if it were a speed camera.

Why is it so difficult to get authorities to put in enough cameras ?

We can't do that in North America since we don't like to do that sort of thing

That's great, but actual reductions took 2 yrs. Not actually overnight. Particularly for the couple hundred extra people who died in that interval
