In NJ, we would call this "talking out of your ass." Translation, saying something you don't know is correct while pretending that you do know. Candidates for any office, much less president of the US, should not talk out of their ass.

That's a good guess as to Trump's scrambled brain process, but who knows what he was thinking? The reality is that if we have to engage in this kind of speculation, it's proof that Trump is unfit for purpose.
