It’s wild. The Blake Lively lawsuit against her costar is an absolute PR kamehameha Lively’s team basically: - gathered mountains of incriminating receipts, including emails and texts that might have been leaked by the crisis comms consultant’s former employer - waited until he thought he was in the clear, as his gloating texts showed - ambushed him with a Friday night filing and a leak to the New York Times (my bet is Lively’s lawyers briefed the NYT on deep background), resulting in a scathing investigative piece (continued)

Holy shit Blake Lively has great lawyers. Not just that the complaint tells her story so well and so sympathetically, but how the fuck did they get all those texts of Baldoni's PR team twirling their moustaches before discovery?

Blake Lively really does have great lawyers, with strong comms instincts. The complaint itself is written very strategically: - is structured like a story, starting with one gripping scene and leading the reader on from there - highlights themes in societal discourse designed

This story was obviously planted in the New York Times by Lively’s team. It was very well executed, a devastating ambush attack on Baldoni, who has already been dropped by his talent agency. Here’s how something like this works: - Team Lively selects a reporter. In this case,

There’s a footnote in the complaint that states they obtained the emails and texts through “the legal process.” Which likely means they filed a “Doe complaint” (using placeholder fictitious names) and then used that action to issue subpoenas to obtain the evidence. Then used

btw I think this was more of a spirit bomb. Charged up over a long period of time through the effort of many, unleashed all at once to a devastating effect.
You uttered “Kamehameha” and suddenly I’m 4 tweets and a NYT article deep on some random celeb drama
Ryan Reynolds has truly preternatural PR & comms skills. For the last 5-7 yrs, he's been on a wildly impressive run of turning those skills + a pretty face & 6-pack that won't quit into tons and tons of money (way higher monetization levels than what's possible solely as an

It’s ironic how what the movie talks about in terms of an abusive toxic relationship sort of played out in the background while shooting for the film, based on the allegations!
As soon as I saw “kamehameha” I was in for the whole thread! I dunno if it’s possible to read that word and not get a mental image of it 😂
Above all else, I love the fact that all the crisis PR dirty tricks had the curtain pulled back. I hope that this leads to people reading the news with a much more critical eye to how they might be manipulating us.
There’s a piece to this I still feel like we’re missing. Not quite sure what it is, but the comms leaks feel suspiciously extortion-hit to me. None of that reflects on Lively or the case, per se, just something smells off. I don’t like feeling like I’m getting played…
I don't think she won. maybe the battle with Baldoni but not the war. Who will hire her if you have to fear lawsuits like that from her team? No one will risk working with here anymore. It's loose - loose for her anyway. But she will take Baldini with her down the spiral.
It's incredibly foolish to go after Ryan Reynold's wife in any way, shape, or form. The family as a whole is extremely wealthy, well connected, and beloved by all.
Her PR is Susan Magrino Agency. Props to them for handling this well. They also took care of Martha Stewart's incredible comeback.
Who cares? Her movies are not great. Everyone knows she's a diva and her dropping all this now is as effective as Chrissy Teigen claiming she's sober and sorry for being a nasty witch. Snooze.
Wow, the lengths they went to abuse this woman is atrocious! The fact that women helped facilitate this abuse, is even more concerning
I’m going to be honest and say Blake doesn’t have great lawyers her husband does. He’s got the A-list power to get this all started. Even if Blake wins it’s not going to help her nearly dead acting career. Though I could be completely wrong and push her up to Ryan’s level.
I also think your forgetting who she is Married to and the fact he owns one of the best PR/Advertising companies in the world. I am sure he had some input in it. She has an excellent support network to come out swinging with.
Haven’t seen the movie, haven’t read the article, initial reaction I’m appalled the times can be used like this and it’s spun as investigative journalism, but you had me at DBZ
Ryan Reynolds is also a master story teller and I'm sure helped plot.
Only 9 responders made this about her husband! Impressive. Solid work by her team. Really shows how powerful comms can be.
They gotta turn this story into a movie in itself…and the asshole actor should be unironically played by Ryan Reynolds
Who heard of Baldoni (until now). Plus she's the wife of a beloved, smart, tech savvy marketer. And she's super close to Taylor.
They have fucked with the woman of this stature? How could they possibly underestimate . She's tough. Isn't that obvious? Dark systems survive by exploiting weak people, not by smacking the cheek of a strong person who is perfectly capable to dismantle them.
Average person is left thinking Can’t she just lock her door? If it stays in the tabloids it’s just rich white people fighting creating content for social media If it goes to court and actually wastes time and resources it’s gonna end very badly for both
Reminder that neither Baldoni nor Lively are victims of anything but their making. This was a film abt DV, Blake used the film to promote beauty products and Baldnoni is an ass. The only victims are the people suffering from DV and the focus is not on them now.
I'm not a real fan of Blake Lively, I don't dislike her and have enjoyed some of her work. I did read parts of the lawsuit and found the way she was treated awful. I hope this will be an eyeopener for workplace abuse in all fields.
Would be cool if I cared. You're not gonna convince me that the girl who's been known historically as a mean girl isn't lying. A white woman trying to silence her dark skinned costar is what this is.
You have “great lawyers” when your hubby is a billionaire and you are a rich privileged millionaire yourself.stop gloating about lawyers shit show
Puts the negative public reaction towards Amber Heard in a different light. To what degree was that manufactured by the same people?
Two comments: 1. As Martha Stewart said, off-screen Ryan Reynolds is a very serious person. Not funny. 2. It isn’t a good PR move to equate Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni with Amber Heard/Johnny Depp.
Best tactic is to let them think they got away with it, quietly gather your documents then pounce. The person who takes it too far gets cocky but they should always assume that revenge is on the menu.
