If we buy Greenland and exempt them from the Jones Act they could actually improve our economy overnight
This makes me like the idea more. The Jones act needs to go, they only reason it's stuck around so long it's because most people don't know about it. Something that made it's flaws apparent would be great
What if Greenland is an end-around to end the Jones Act?
I can dream can’t I?
another reason why the jones act needs to be repealed. what it's done to US citizens in PR should've been reason enough
Greenlands economy is the size of a large American college town.
It’s literally a non-issue to ensure their livelihoods
How Government Overreach Threatens Consumer Empowerment and Innovation
When we bought the Virgin Islands (from Denmark), we exempted them from the Jones Act. So it can be done. Also, Greenland probably gets most shipping from Europe now, and that would not change even if the Jones Act were enacted there.
The Jones Act is something a lot of us on the Libertarian Right want gone or permanently softened, but apparently, the unions love it
But it's also been helping hold back Mississippi, western Kentucky, and so forth, which could benefit from seaport and interstate expansion
If we could tie buying Greenland to repealing the jones act I would be very much in favor of it.
the libs are proposing helpful policy ideas to smooth the integration of Greenland into these United States and you're black-pilling, anon?
The purchase is likely to come in the form of cash given to its citizens.
They’ll be fine.
If we buy Greenland and don’t exempt ourselves from the Jones Act we would continue the wreckage of our own economy. Also true if we don’t buy Greenland. Time to repeal the Jones Act.
Everybody casually talking about buying Greenland like it's on the discount shelf at Wal-Mart.
I see a two-fer in the works! Repeal the Jones Act and also put in an offer for Greenland as part of the same deal.
It's time to take our country back.

Ironically not long ago they escaped a similar situation, primary shipping company to Greenland was a colonial relic and did everything from Denmark and prioritized danish jobs as much as Greenland, they changed that and moved board and logistics more toward the North Atlantic
Make territories exempt from the Jones Act… or better yet repeal the Jones Act altogether.
not if we make them part of the us and let them build ships
great idea. lets exempt the rest of the country from the Jones Act too while we are at it.
They don't have an economy they are an island of 56000 people they hunt and get oil field paybacks

this is my favorite conspiracy theory bar none
People keep saying this but a simpler explanation is that America in 1930 was orders of magnitude poorer than America today. The vast majority of adults didn’t finish high school. The New Deal playbook doesn’t work anymore because America isn’t a developing country in 2025.

I think the big reason why FDR was beloved for generations while Obama & Biden got zero credit for their huge stimulus projects is that when those New Deal programs allocated money, people saw stuff getting built. Now it takes years & years from allocation to shovels digging. x.com/SecretaryPete/…
To the contrary, nearly every aggressively sober zoomer I meet would benefit immensely from taking a couple shots and getting over his/her crippling social anxiety, even at the expense of 2 hours lower life expectancy or whatever

the part where Zuck announces they’re moving moderation teams to Texas is so funny because his sole justification is literally “conservatives will trust us more if our moderation team is in Texas instead of California” lmao
