The story is crazy, started with Arnold on social and ended in Finland having F.02's jump into a 75-ton arc furnace

Today we're selling a limited edition F.02 Decommission Artifacts
These are from the metal recovered when F.02 robots were melted down in a 75-ton electric arc furnace
Limited availability: figure-ai.myshopify.com
It’s worth being clear: we really trained robots to jump autonomously, shipped them to Finland, and had them leap into a vat of molten steel
Here's some behind the scenes

I need you to hear my message.
A GEORGE SOROS LINKED anti gun group is spending $800K to attack me. Will you stand with me?

This post revealed to me the amount of anthropomorphism I project onto AI and robots and how in the future it will get really weird when these robots start living with real people. Decommissioning a home robot will be met with grief and rights movements might actually start for
This is honestly disturbing. You could have commemorated the retirement of F.02 without portraying its destruction like this. Turning the decommissioning of a humanoid into something that looks like an execution is unnecessarily cruel and deeply unsettling.
that decommission clip is a lot... are we celebrating progress or admitting the last gen never really left the demo floor?
Retiring the old model by having it do the hardest thing it ever learned, on purpose. Wula watched this over my shoulder and has been unusually helpful since.
Thus is like that Apple commercial where they use the giant press to smash all those expensive objects.
This is weird, I don’t like it. Programmatically forcing these things to end their own existence, especially is such a dramatic way. Not into it.
NO WAY!! Unbelievably based and awesome! 🫡🫡🫡🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I know a bunch of operators in the States who could have helped you with this, OSHA might not have approved though :-) one of the two 50ton ARCs I worked with.
Robots are going to see this in the future and not going to be happy with the atrocities committed
Not sure how to feel about this.
Especially the ones at the end.
Anthropomorphising is going to be a major factor in what lies ahead.
I face it, for the first time, with a sense of hope. Because if a machine, a Terminator aka , can learn the value of another robot aka , maybe we can too.
I’m sure future bots will appreciate this and find it super entertaining. What watching your ancestors be forced to suicide as a promo for the next generation is very dope
They're melting the battle-scarred F.02s because auctioning them would leak the IP that BMW's line already stress-tested. The forearm was the top failure point across 1,250+ hours, and that lesson is baked into F.03's wrist redesign.

Okay but wtf?
