This is the finest essay that I have read in years. I do not wish to spoil it — please take my word for this, you should drop everything and read it. It is that good. Link below!

i had the same problem with kriss's piece on taylor swift journalism
it was a fantastic short story but it definitely left me with some confused beliefs about taylor swift, even now i'm not entirely sure what i remember reading
Yeah, agreed. The Poro stuff is largely true; the point I realized that it had turned into fiction was when I tried to Google the Isotimians Christian sect and couldn't find anything
Yeah so all of the Laurentius Clung stuff is fiction right? Is that the whole of the fictional part because I did find it hard to tell, frankly.
Extremely annoying to read something, halfway in discovering it's fake, then having to go back to re-update backwards on everything I "learned" from it.
Yeah I totally fell for this. I thought the article was telling a true story.
Oh the latter half was made up? Why was it boring then? Would have been much better with just the contemporary true stuff.
Good point, on the other hand things like this can be training for noticing more malicious lies / unintentional falsehoods, it forces you to notice when you're being way too credulous
I guess, but the internet would be far less entertaining if it was easy to distinguish fact from fiction.
Oh come on man. Don't people in Dath Ilan play pranks on each other. This is the most Straw Vulcan thing you've ever said.
Wait, people assumed that the humorous historical farce was true as they were reading it? Seriously?
