Really don't think that Uber in 2017 was "only behind Waymo but probably catching up," as Travis says here. As the second screenshot shows, Uber's technology had a lot of problems even before the crash that killed Elaine Herzberg in 2018.

2024 Cruise is another one that was nowhere near Waymo. Incredible how the media gave Cruise any legitimacy.

You mean 2023 right? I plead somewhat guilty to this but I also think it's hard to tell in real time. Cruise's crashes in 2023 seemed worse than Waymo's, but at the time I wasn't sure how much weight to give that.
