Europe is bleeding tech talent, and no one's talking about it. A senior engineer in Paris makes $65K. The same role in Silicon Valley? $320K. This gap is creating the biggest talent exodus in European history. Here's the brutal reality behind Europe's massive brain drain 🧵:

i suspect this is about as practicable as importing neurosurgeons in attempt to drop their salary or importing investment bankers to drop theirs. they already do this at entry level (target recruitment for internationals) a lot of times labor supply is not the issue
If you guys make it straightforward I’d gladly come over, work 10 years for 3x my current salary and pay taxes, and then fuck off back to EU before I start burdening the healthcare and pension systems
The USA should only be bringing in people for roles where they will be paid median wages, or above. Do so for highly skilled and low-skilled roles. Bring in people that employers see as being above median performers. Additionally, consider opening legal permanent residency to

Especially from poor countries like the EU, where their talents are now being wasted.
I have a dozen friends who are developers and own companies in Europe. Specifically, in Spain. A few of them want to college in the US. Not one of them would ever want to come to United States under any circumstances.
Trump's not doing that lol Also what 2022 magic internet business account doesn't mention at all is the much higher costs on everything but especially Healthcare, child care, quality education for their kids 200k doesn't go as far after all that, where they gonna live? Missouri?
Woke Entitlement vs. the American Dream: Why We Must Close the Border and Exercise Our Rights America has always been a land of opportunity, drawing immigrants seeking a better life through hard work and determination. Historically, immigrants have come to the United States with

not sure if this is great. i think we should encourage eu to be more pro innovation and high skill immigration. we dont want our allies to lack talent.
I could not afford to live in Silicon Valley for less than $500K so this salary isn’t going to make it better
Nah, give them work permits specifically requiring them to return by a set date and exclude their current/future family from anything other than tourist visas.
We already have the best tech companies in the world, and they are already disproportionately foreign-born compared to other industries.
—-would that “Gang of 8” immigration bill from 2014 have solved a lot of our immigration woes? Boehner killed it, but with this cabinet of billionaires and Rubio as SoS, maybe there’s a real possibility here to resurrect and improve it.
But also...and I mean *also*...don't be so openly hostile toward the tech sector as European nations. Those who govern us seem to think they should be.
Trump's not doing that lol Also what 2022 magic internet business account doesn't mention is much higher costs & lower quality on EVERYTHING but esp Healthcare, child care, education, you need a car for everything, 200k doesn't go as far BTW where they gonna live? Missouri?
One day ai "influencers" will learn about cost of living and purchasing power but that day is not today. Also 65k for a senior dev is bullcrap.
Correct. We should also be focusing on vacuuming up brilliant Chinese business people who are tired of their incompetent and repressive government. At the same time we need to deport unskilled illegals who are depressing the wages of working class Americans.
Also other “low level” immigrant labor as well. The country would benefit if we had a much more liberal immigration policy generally. More workers and consumers is good.
