Cars are robots now. A computer controlled set of electric motors / actuators. Once manufacturing switches to the “unboxed” modular assembly process, the transformation to being a consumer electronics device, but large, is complete.

Cybercab uses individual actuators on each brake caliper. Zero brake lines or fluid. This probably makes the unboxed process possible/easier because there are no brake lines running throughout the length of the vehicle, super neat.

Cars have been "a computer controlled set of actuators" for about two decades now; it just hasn't been abstracted in a way that allows the casual observer to understand what's actually happening when they provide a control input.
My 2010 Prius has entirely electronic brakes. There is a small hydraulic fallback but only on the front wheels.
