Redwood is currently recycling batteries at a rate of of 20 GWh/year. That's an extraordinary amount —more than some analysts thought would even be available in the US for a few more years. But it's just a shadow of what's to come 4/ bloomberg.com/news/features/

For the non lithium materials, yes For the lithium, no Increasing the energy density means reducing the non-lithium mass. My understanding is they also get slightly more efficient with the use of lithium, but it's fractional. For example, by using slightly less electrolyte
Combine this with Stanford’s study showing recycling lithium-ion batteries uses ~11-25% of mining’s energy & cuts Green House Gas by over half. Synergistic win: old batteries less energy dense, so recycling them into new, denser ones maximizes efficiency & sustainability

The Tesla Model 3/Y produced in the 2017-2024 timeframe all have just an air conditioning vent in the back. But it would be great to turn it into a smart screen that can watch movies, play games and other controls.

From Grok That's an interesting claim, but it needs some unpacking. Recycling lithium-ion batteries can indeed recover valuable materials like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite, which can be used to produce new batteries. However, the idea that 1 kWh of old batteries can
🔋 The Lithium Landscape Top reserves (million tonnes) : 🇨🇱 Chile: 9.3 🇦🇺 Australia: 6.2 🇦🇷 Argentina: 2.7 🇨🇳 China: 2.0 🇺🇸 U.S.: 1.0 🌍 Rest of World: 4.9 Just five countries hold 81% of global lithium. But here’s the cost: 💧 500,000 gallons (2.27M liters) of water = 1
Wow, well if i thought about it i could have reached this conclusion but i haven't so far. Would be very funny if the same was true for solar panels but i think that's actually different? I think JB deserves all the success in the world so i hope the quicker scaling helps them.
