Interesting. Note that the only time in the last 30 years when the average age at first marriage stopped rising was during the 2000s boom. This thing that we treated as unsustainable was actually the only time that housing construction was sufficient.

I wonder how tightly correlated mean marriage age and mean first time homebuying age are in the US, especially during the 1950s and onwards when it became commonly expected for urban residents to own their own homes?

Half the complaints are about capitalism are actually complaints about scarcity and the subsequent necessary rationing of resources. Free parking is bad anyway, it imposes large negative externalities, distorts land use, and creates deadweight losses.

I have considered the ~2006ish destruction of the History channel, that remade it into the cable equivalent clickbait slop, as a marker of our society's decadence and social decline It never occurred to me it might even be *causal* at least for one key segment of conspiracists
