It seems some Trump voters may have developed amnesia. In our polling, we can compare who respondents said they voted for in 2024 right after the election to what they claim now. 98% of Trump voters who still approve of the president recall their vote correctly. But for the roughly 15% unhappy with his performance? Almost 1 in 4 now deny voting for him. 13% even say they voted for Kamala Harris while 12% say they didnโ€™t vote at all. Dig into the Nixon voters who disappeared from polling over the years after Watergate. I dimly recall a similar phenomenon.
Just like you couldn't find anyone in the 80s who would admit ever having voted for Nixon.
Putting aside the lying by these voters, hopefully it's a good sign now that they are running away from their prior votes. That said, Republicans almost always come home at election time. Perhaps the best that can be hoped for is that they just not vote at all in 2026.
