Assistant DHS Secretary McLaughin: Look at LA, Boston, Chicago, and New York—they’re facing record numbers of homicides/violent crime. Could DC be a blueprint for other communities around the country—I think it’s some President Trump wouldn’t shy away from.

The US is and always has been an especially violent developed nation. So it's always worthwhile to look for ways to reduce crime. But you can't base an entire national conversation on fake numbers

In fairness, most people are not following day to day crime numbers. When they think about how crime is in their city, they aren't thinking about how many murders there were in the past 24 hours. They are thinking about how many murders there were in the past couple of years.
