Tim Walz decided to get married on 6/4/1994, the fifth anniversary of Tiananmen Square. Why? Said his wife: "he wanted to have a date he'll always remember."

I mean, does he remember it negatively? I'm open to him maybe having a different definition, but he has said he's a socialist (I think w/o the democratic qualifier). I don't *think* I'm being unfair when we have the precedent of Bernie's honeymoon...
It’s cool that in order to remember his own anniversary it has to have other significance or he would forget? Kind of makes the whole marriage thing unimportant to him.
Liberal myyth-making at it’s finest. I’m to go ahead now and predict Trump in a landslide and Republicans get both houses. No one is voting for this shiizzle-show.
There was another anniversary of one the most important dates in modern history just two days later! The 50th anniversary of the event no less . . .
I tried the same approach but used my birthday as the date. Wife vetoed so we had it four days before. Better date according to the Monks that figure this sort of thing out. Still, pretty easy to recall.
That is interesting. Shows that 64 was really a huge event for him. The only concern I have about him though is he might have "savior" complex that earlier US China experts have. And CCP knows how to use that savior complex. But hopefully at this age he knows better.
I read on his Wikipedia page his wife runs a tour company that takes students to china, that would make sense she knows about Tiananmen Square
Thank God - a VP nom who knows Mandarin and has had lots of engagement with China - but knows that the current dictatorship is a huge threat to freedom everywhere
