There was not a very clear policy contrast in that primary but Talarico got famous initially by going on Joe Rogan’s show and impressing him, was the preferred candidate of South Texas Latino moderates, and has articulated centrist views on energy in the general election.

I think the main thing here is that leftists want to flatten all non-leftists into an amorphous “establishment” and just ignore the existence of a moderate critique of the establishment — a critique Talarico (unlike the people who lost in NYC) has partially embraced.
This is your new playbook: claim progressives can’t win competitive races, and when they do, just pick one non-lefty view he has and retroactively label their entire worldview centrist. You’ve done it for Zohran Mamdani now too now that’s he’s been proven a success as mayor.
The real test is the more corporate candidates versus the less corporate candidates
