“Tax billionaires out of existence” and “adopt the Nordic model” are inconsistent positions, despite both being held by many American socialists.

Norway has a wealth tax. The U.S. doesn’t. Norway has an ~47% top marginal tax rate. The U.S. is ~37%.
U.S. billionaires on average have double the net worth as Norwegian billionaires.
So pretty sure “socialists” are choosing the Norwegian setup 100 times out of 100.
Does the right only do misleading statistics? Like I’ve seen 4-5 today and it’s like a game. How is this statistic trying to lie?
Their richest man is worth 15 billion, ours is worth 800 billion. We have more hundred billionaires than they have regular billionaires
American socialists should also take a closer look at the tax burden placed on lower wage earners in the Nordics as well as the highly regressive ~25% VAT. They promise all the benefits w/o the shared tax burden, which is totally unserious (and, of course, on brand).
No one real wants to tax billionaires out of existence in USA.
We all want to tax them more… atleast as much as our effective rate. Right?
As an aside, Norway seems like a beautiful, happy, productive, high quality-of-life place, no?
So billionaires won’t just stop wanting
Gronk Reports that
Nordic countries are every bit
progressive and rich as the US.
You're asking Leftists to "think"
They can't do that, they just act on emotion
Trying to have a real conversation with them is impossible and a waste of time
They speak to manipulate, not to communicate
Norway has less than 6 million people. Sweden has about 10 million people, and the USA has 340 million people.
This means Norway has two billionairs - and every one you add will skew those numbers a lot more than in the USA.
That sair, these numbers are also from 2019. In recent
love when people switch up the goalposts, from “we should tax billionaires more instead of subsidizing their yachts” to “oh so no more billionaires? no more rich guys huh? none??? ever??”
AOC’s infamous tax the rich plan is a whopping 3% increase on billionaires lmao
Seems like the nordic model solves for both sides of the political spectrum, in that respect then.
Aren’t you on of the people saying that billionaires will all flee if taxes are higher…?
Explain billionaires in Scandinavia then?
Currently reading Von Mises’ book on socialism. Do these Democrat Socialists just want a more expanded welfare state? Or do they want a centrally planned economy minus the totalitarianism? Regardless, Von Mises discusses how socialism cannot work due to the calculation problem.
Many policies on both the left and right are inconsistent and not feasible. But they sell very well to the base via internet, SM, and other media, so they get propagated.
Sweden and Norway have BILLIONAIRES?!?!?
But wait- I always heard that rich people abandon countries with high taxes. What’s going on here?
Could it be that they don’t mind paying taxes because they love their country and love knowing that everyone can see a doctor?
#TaxTheRich
Elon Musk would pay ~8.8 Billion in tax every year under Norways' tax plan. If he sold shares to meet the payout he would then be liable for up to 37& of any gains on sold stock. US tax loopholes allow it to be 0 many years running.
Many American socialists hold inconsistent positions because they have no fundamental understanding of basic economics.
That is no longer accurate in regards to Norway. Sweden may have more billionaires per capita but the US has far more super wealthy ones and is far more unequal than Scandinavia and even most third world countries today.
Deposits (M2) are a consequence of two fundamental problems in the economy: unequal exchange and unfinished (delayed) exchange. And these deposits (M2) seek to multiply their own money rather than fulfill their obligations.
They prefer their billionaires be born into rather than self made
They should see the wealth exodus from Norway and ask how compatible the model is with climate change.
...so increasing taxes to Nordic levels, won't even get rid of the billionaires
Then whats with all the pearl clutching?
First build sufficient fission power plants to drop the delivered price of residential electricity to 3 or 4¢ per Kw/hr.
Second, stop all immigration.
then you can afford the Nordic model of cradle to grave care.
