EJ Antoni's commentary on labor statistics has unfortunately been quite poor. I do not think is anywhere near the capability or knowledge of e.g. Keith Hall or William Beach, both excellent Republican appointees, the latter of whom was appointed by Trump in his first term.
His most typical commentary looks something like this. - Dual y axes obscure the very comparison he's inviting - Innapropriate to continue trough-to-peak trendlines with linear extrapolation. - No discussion of the actual cause - stagnant native-born birthrates circa 2000

*inappropriate. Sorry! Trump has had a great labor economist work with him in the recent past. I think Richard Burkhauser is an incredibly impressive scholar. Probably past the typical age for an agency head, but I would trust whomever Burkhauser recommends.

Also pandemic knockrd a big chunk of older workers (less likely to be immigrants) out of the labor force either through death, disability, or early retirement.
