It's to get their head so fucked up and addicted to the sex with the supermodel-looking agent that they'll end up saying and doing all kinds of stupid shit like revealing information, letting their guard down - access to their documents, computers/phones, or just plain letting themselves get drugged...
Plus, when the penalty for Espionage is either Death or Life Imprisonment (see Robert Hanssen, Aldrich Ames, etc) the last fucking thing even any ***NON-FRENCH*** agent gives a shit about is their marriage ending vs a bullet in the fucking head or SOLITARY CONFINEMENT in ADX Florence (where Hanssen just died last year...)
Speaking of which, Death is a much better outcome than a life in Solitary Confinement...
